Please Note!! The State of Virginia requires TB
and Brucellosis tests for goats within 30 days prior to importation,
unless your entire herd has tested negative for TB and Brucellosis
within the last 12 months. Goats under 6 months of age are exempt
from this requirement.
Yes, you need scrapie ID! No, you do NOT need eartags!!
If you have any problems getting correct information
about the Sate of Virginia Health requirements, you may have your
vet contact Dr. Bob Ruth, Virginia Department of Agriculture, (540)

All animals entering the show barns will
be required to be accompanied by an official health certificate,
even if the animals are not going to be exhibited. All animals must
have acceptable scrapie identification. Acceptable scrapie ID for
goats consists of ANY ONE of the following:
1) An official scrapie eartag
OR
2) A LEGIBLE breed registry tattoo, if the
animal is accompanied by registration papers and a health certificate
both bearing the same tattoo sequence
OR
3) A functioning microchip, if the animal
is accompanied by breed registration papers and health certificate,
both bearing the matching microchip number, AND a microchip reader.
Please note that the tattoo/microchip identification
requirements are just the same as those required to exhibit in any
AGS show and for a show win to be official, but make sure your tattoos/microchip
numbers ARE CORRECT on your health certificates.
